They reconnect with how it feels to "experience a beautiful sense of quietness within. A metaphorical scenario of strolling "further and further" from the busy roads of civilization, until the cars are no longer visible or audible at all, forms the perfect metaphor for finding distance from one's thoughts.

As the client finds themselves "surrounded by nature on all sides," a description of the cool breeze and warm sunlight on their face helps them become fully immersed in this perfectly quiet place. Now the pace slows as the client is given plenty of time to really "absorb this quiet" and enjoy their peaceful surroundings. The suggestion is made that the client can learn to experience this inner quiet whenever and wherever they need to.

Next the client is given the opportunity to float outside themselves and observe the relaxation and stillness of their body. Again slow sentences punctuated by long pauses give the client time to really appreciate the deep sense of quiet imbuing every part of them.

Quieting the mind means distancing yourself from your thoughts in order to find a place of calm clarity. At work, this might free you up to really focus on a task, or carefully weigh up the pros and cons of an important decision.
